"Truth and Beauty"

The things that Ann Patchett had to deal with shouldn't have been easy, not everyone would have defended their work the same way she did.


Her book "Truth and Beauty" is not an ordinary work, she wants to memorialize her friend with it. I think this is one of the reasons why she defended it so strongly, another reason was that she was defending free will, this way, everyone can decide what they want or do not want to do to improve their general knowledge and be more critical. Maybe I couldn’t defend better my job if I was in her shoes but I admire her determination. Also, I believe that hiding things from people to “protect them” is never the answer, first, they have to be exposed to the information and then they will be able to decide if the thing is good or not for them.

And what if?

I do not know if you are the kind of person that tends to think about: what would happen if you had changed something in your life? But I am that kind of person. In the past, I used to think much more about those "possible" scenarios than now. Anything could be a perfect situation to overthink and make a mess in my mind, but as time goes by, you realized what is important and worth to think about. That does not mean we just forget our past because it helps us to improve. It was very common for me to think about the consequences of doing or not doing certain things, for example, What if you had decided not to talk with anyone that day when you do not feel very well? Would you  have ever met that wonderful person that cheered up your day?
